Mark and I arrived home tonight after a wonderful week in Michigan. I am so thankful that we are able to travel often to spend time with family and friends! I’m choosing to celebrate the wonderful time, instead of focusing on missing everyone…even if that is what comes natural! #ChooseToCelebrate
Trash or Treasures???
At first glance these may look like basic (possibly ugly) stockings! However, to me they are stockings stuffed with memories! You see they started to come into existence some 30+ years ago, while Mark and I were still dating. Yes…crafty little me made the Mr. and Mrs. Snowmen stockings first and then as the kiddos came along I continued the tradition with the Snowchildren!
This Christmas was Mark and my first Christmas as official empty nesters! As I decorated this year, I stopped to examine the stockings that have seen better days and really don’t match the decor anymore. As I was looking at them, I was thinking… “Wouldn’t it be nice to have some stockings that looked classier? Perhaps some that represent the kids as family units…The Smith’s, The DeMoss’, but wait, there would be two of those for the guys! Maybe new ones for everyone in the family, but then do I buy matching ones now for my possible future daughter-in-laws. And then what about future grandchildren too???” Yeah, those really are a few of the thoughts running rampant in my head. Wow! Stockings can make my life hard!!!
For now I have not come to any amazing conclusions on new stockings. Instead of stressing over a conclusion, I’ll just choose to cherish the memories that are held in these treasures! Maybe this is just the beginning of my being able to let go! Letting go is a process for me! And that is ok!
